TODAY'S PICTURE TO PONDER PHOTOS -
shadowed white and purple cattleya orchids from the American Orchid Society greenhouse

The other night, while I was looking for a totally unrelated photo I came across this one from several months ago. I had an immediate "Wow!" response, mainly from the deep contrasts, I think. The dark against the light and the delicacy in the petals contrasted with the bold shapes of the "negative spaces," the spaces in between.

The photo, for me, is more about the dance of lines and shapes, rather than the orchids themselves. I did do some adjusting with Photoshop Elements for those interested in seeing the flowers more clearly. You can see that result by clicking on CATTLEYA ORCHID SHADOWS 2.

SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -
Once again "Perfectionism" and "Decisiveness" are showing up as themes. When, months ago, I had first downloaded today's photo I had totally disregarded it as a possibility for use in Picture to Ponder. Each of the two flowers is cut off. Thus, for me, from the perspective of being a "beautiful orchids photograph," it simply did not work and I forgot about it.

When I happened on it the other night, with "different" eyes and with NO expectations or forethought, it took on a totally different dimension and a new meaning, as described above.

Thinking about my experience, I invite you to be open to possibilities in things or situations that you may previously have rejected. Can you think of anything recently that grabbed your attention and, without thought, you automatically rejected it because of past judgments?

If so, I suggest that you pause to reflect on what the characteristics are that brought it to your attention now? Are there new actions you might take? I also invite you to simply stay open, whenever you, yourself, experience a "Wow!" response.

The "decisiveness" example from my experience today comes from my once again wavering over which photo to feature, wanting it to be the "right" one. This "back and forth" becomes quite costly in time and often a drain in energy.

I finally reminded myself that it was the "drama" of the first photo that had me want to feature it. The way out of the angst was to simply stick with my original intention.

Are there times when you find yourself in that arena of "indecision?" If so, I invite you also to step back for a minute and check out your original intention. If it's fuzzy, you might want to affirm one now and then go back and act.

And, please allow yourself to fully experience the freedom of this.

LATEST DISCOVERIES -
My passion for discovery, and sharing my discoveries, I believe are two of the elements that are factors in having PICTURE TO PONDER be the success that it is. Mostly it's my passion for discovery in Nature that you experience here. And, this past week, I discovered two business-related finds that I am excited to share.

For the WRITERS among you - On a teleclass, earlier this week, I was most impressed with all the information and resources that Jeff Herring, The Article Guy, had to offer. As a writer for Knight Ridder publications, with articles reaching 8 million people a week, Jeff gave an amazing comparative statistic of the percentage of his business that comes from the web. I highly recommend checking out his site, www.thearticleguy.com for free information, as well as for the programs he offers.

For the PHONE USERS among you, in the United State, Canada and US territories, who might have the need to make international calls, I'd recommend checking out Tel3's program . I am working with a coach now who lives in Canada, thus a search for the best phone rates. The rate with my phone company is 5 cents a minute, IF I were to add another $3.00 flat rate to my current plan. I was, thus, thrilled to find 1.9 cents a minute. I've used the service and it's great.
