TODAY'S PHOTO -
Baby Great Horned Owl and parent in nest in Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge

I took this picture a few weeks ago and I've been stalling on using it as a Picture to Ponder feature photo. I was very pleased to get such a clear shot of the owls with my simple point and shoot camera, which does have a great telephoto lens. The nest was high up in the tree, quite a distance from my where we could stand.

I am not sure what has kept me from including this photo shortly after I took it. The nesting owl was quite an "event" with people talking about it in both of the other closer wetlands where I am almost daily. I understand photographers were lined up for 6 weeks observing and documenting the activity.

Bottom line, I am sharing the photo with you today because I am sure that there are a number of you who will be quite excited with and inspired by it. And that is my mission.

SELF-REFLECTING QUERIES -

As I write today I continue to wonder about my reticence. Does it forward anything to elaborate, item by item, on what might be off? I think not. When I stop and look at my commitment all there is to do is to share.

I invite you to pause and take a few minutes to reflect on your own life. Is there something you've been holding back on sharing with another or others? Are some niggling doubts providing the reasons, rather excuses, for your not being in action around it?

If so, I invite you to take the action. If you need reassurance first, check with yourself, "What's the worst thing that can happen?"

For me today I recognize that not everybody loves all the photos that I do. On the other hand there are, I'm sure, those who will love what I don't. By not putting that out there also, I deprive a segment of the population a positive experience and deprive myself the opportunity of having new openings.

What might be possible for you?

STAMP OUT PARKINSON'S DISEASE-
Because Sam has been afflicted with this disease, I have stepped out of my offering-photos-and-queries-mainly mode to provide you with the opportunity to support this also. Special thanks to those of you who have so thoughtfully and generously responded.

NEW IN THE GIFT SHOP-

red singing tulips stamp

When subscriber Meg Austin wrote last week to suggest I send "Singing Tulips" to the Postal Service to see about their being used as a stamp for Parkinson's Awareness Month, I decided to have fun, test out Cafe Press' service of personalizing postage. I've splurged on getting a set for myself. See TULIP STAMP. Several other companies also now offer this service.

Keep a watch on the Tulips Section of the shop. I am in the process of adding others of the tulips in prints and note cards, as well as other items you might wish.
