TODAY'S PHOTO -
Flamingos in FLAMINGO
GARDENS , Davie, Fl. Several people commented
yesterday on the peacefulness and serenity they felt
looking out over the water. Deciding to continue the
"theme" today, I found this photo from last
April.
There is something for me in the positioning of the
birds, the framing of them and, especially the reflections,
that gives off a feeling of peacefulness. I find being
by water very soothing.
Years ago, I thought a pharmacist told me that the
positive ions in water were beneficial. When I went
to Google to check it out for my writing today, I
found that it's the negative ions that are said to
be the healthy ones. This would explain why being
by the ocean was especially helpful for me, both when
my mother was dying and then my father, two years
later. Fortunately for me they lived in Florida, fairly
close to beaches.
Though I'm not familiar with the group or company,
I am passing a relevant URL for an article, HEALTHY
BREATHING & NEGATIVE IONS. Scrolling down
the page:
"Remember that feeling you've experienced
near a waterfall or high in the mountains? Those
are two places that thousands of negative ions occur.
They create an effect on human biochemistry."
I'd love to hear comments from those of you receiving
PICTURE TO PONDER who have expertise in this area,
as well as comments from any others of you, on your
own experiences. What spaces do you go to, either
physically or in meditation, to energize yourself?
Hmmm. When asking you about your spaces, I just
remembered a dentist commenting on the peacefulness
I had developed during the two years he was working
on my mouth. For my sanity, whenever I sat in his
chair, in my mind I went to the rocks that extended
into the ocean in Spring Lake, NJ.
Again, consider, do you have such a place?
READER COMMENTS ON YESTERDAY'S ISSUE - Issue
59
" Oh my - the greys and greens and humidity
in this photo simply reek of calm and healing. Ahhhhhhhhhh...."
"This is so serene and lovely."
"Maybe it's just that it's a rainy day here,
but there's a bit of mistiness in this photo. It's
very inviting. I can so easily imagine sitting in
one of those rockers, just drinking in the view."
"What an absolutely serene image! I
want to be there."
"Thank you for this mornings pic
it was my moment in Shangri-la. The
view of the water and the misty haze create a doorway
to a dimension of play and possibility. The chairs
invoke community who will show up and sit
next to me? What favorite companion(s) will share
this slice of precious moments and synchronicities?
This time capsule provides a respite from the world
of doing. It gifts me with relishing my being and
connecting to the treasure of what is."
"I cannot believe how beautiful and clear your
pictures are. Your choices for pictures are so amazing.
Everytime one of these beautiful pictures comes
up on my computer, I want to jump right in."
Thank you all for sharing.
