Volume 1 - Number 99

TODAY'S PHOTO -
2 of the 3 lavender spider mums used in the Ikebana floral arrangement I did in the course I mentioned last week.

I found the class somewhat challenging because of the exactitude of the placement of each of the pieces of greenery, as well as that of using 3 flowers only. See Arrangement 1.

I can be very precise and a perfectionist with certain details. On the other hand, I like my "freedom" and "simple" is often challenging for me, as is "discipline." As I write this, I'm starting to reframe my considerations about the class, now creating it an opportunity for transforming "challenge" to "possibility."

How about you? Are there challenges you are now facing that you can rethink as opportunities, transforming conversations or monologues that you may be having?

My immediate challenge for today was to find a photo for this issue of Picture to Ponder. For me, the photo of the arrangement itself did not make a statement. I therefore took some close-up photos, finding one that Sam and I both liked, though what surrounded the flowers did not work. I thus started "playing" with my software to alter the background. Then I became excited!

I have been resisting computer manipulation and "painting" and, in letting go, I am finding that what I've been doing in some of these issues is providing the creative satisfaction on which I thrive.

Have you been paying attention to what spurs your creativity and satisfaction?
If not, it might be worth your while to do so. You can save the insights to call on when you are in a funk.
